What is the default unlock config password for a Cisco 7960 / 7960G VoIP phone?

You have a 7960 Cisco phone and as you go to manually edit some of the settings you realize that the phone is locked, not giving you the opportunity to change any settings.  By this point you realize that the phone is locked and see the menu option titled “Unlock Config” and press select only to get the enviable “Enter Password:“.

If your IT staff or provider haven’t locked down the phone with a special password, then you simply have to type in Cisco on the keypad and it will unlock the configuration options.
